I was listening to NPR the other day. It’s the National Public Radio in the US.
In case you missed it, the US stock markets were quite volatile last week. WAAAY down one day, WAAAY up the next.
And on the day when everything was down, the US media was crying and wailing and blaming China’s markets for the crashing US “DOW Jones Industrial Average.”
Then the next day when everything was up, the same media was rejoicing and wondering at the miraculous turnaround.
And a stock market expert on NPR was explaining why it’s all crap.
All the crying over one day and rejoicing over the next. All the blaming of China for daily US market fluctuations. All the concern of daily movements in the “DOW”.
All malarkey.
The markets are far too complex to figure out why they move one direction or another on any given day. Or week. Or month.
No one, not even any computer, is that smart.

How To Avoid the “Big Bug” Mistake

About a week ago I was sitting by a window, working on my laptop.
Something “thudded” on the window.
It did it again. And again. And again.
I looked up. It was a really big beetle. Trying to fly through the glass—over, and over, and over again.
Each time it tried, it got knocked back. And then it tried again. And again.
This happened about 30 times before it flew away.
I remember thinking: “that’s a stupid bug.”
I mean, smart people learn from their mistakes. They bump into a window once, maybe twice… and then try a different way.
But then I started thinking back to times in my own life. When I did exactly that: made the same mistake over and over again, without learning my lesson.
…and I realized that I’m a lot more like that bug than I’d care to admit.
So why is that? Why do we make the same mistakes over and over again?
Sometimes it takes us 20 or 30 times to learn our lesson. Sometimes we never learn it.
Why don’t we learn after our first mistake?

Do you prefer to be unhappy?  Are you wasting time?  It is a choice.

If you’ve been pulling a Rip Van Winkle, and sleeping through the last 12 months or so, you may still know Caitlyn by her previous name.

And awhile back, Bruce decided “he” didn’t want to be Bruce anymore.

This Weekend my daughter Sarah, grand daughter Addisyn and myself went out to do some treasure hunting with a metal detector.  We were having so much fun just goofing around.  So I got to thinking this might be a good time to do a video, I can come up with something!  I was not prepared to “teach”, but wanted people to see you can have fun with this business.  The first video was the Goldmine at Lake Texhoma.  (In case you were wondering, the ring was a plant).  Cheesy, yes.  Fun, yes.  Then I got to thinking…Big Fish….MTTB speaks about marketing “top tier”, where I come from, they call it the Big Fish!…Yea, I can do something with that….Thus, the Big Fish Video.

MTTB Traffic Masters- Lake Texoma gold mine!

So my daughter likes to take up hobbies about once a month… she has attempted wood burning, sewing, painting, geocaching, and that’s just to name a few. For Labor Day weekend 2015, she decided to give treasure hunting a whirl. With a metal detector that is.
She got everything she needed and went out for the afternoon with my granddaughter on a great adventure and they were going to find some treasure, according to Addisyn.
I thought I would join them a little later, so after they had searched down on the river side of the dam, we met on the lake side and started working our way around the waters edge.

Now most of you know Texoma has recently flooded and I live right by the dam (luckily we just had to deal with closed roads but no damage for us!). If you haven’t seen the video of the whirlpool yet- check it out (click the photo for a video) it was amazing! I thought it would be a good idea to search along the spillway, and of course I am always looking for opportunities to film a new video!

So my daughter shows me how to use the metal detector and I had a monologue I’m trying to remember as she starts to film and of course the thing starts going off!
Crazy. I know. But true! I tell Addisyn to start digging and sure enough! What appears to be a class ring! Who would have thought?!?! Of course she got it all on video! Check it out yourself here: Lake Texoma Goldmine.
